President, Brazilian Education and Language Travel Association
Maura de Araujo Leão lives and breathes international education. Maura first experienced international education as an exchange student in the United States in the late 1970s. She subsequently married a former exchange student, lived abroad, and had two sons who were born with the desire to study abroad. Now adults, one just returned from a year studying engineering in Germany and the other is soon to head to France to study a semester of law in Paris.
In 2002, Maura co-founded her travel and study agency, Yázigi Travel, of which she is Chief Executive. She is President of the Brazilian Education and Language Travel Association (BELTA), the first such association to be formed in Latin America. BELTA aims to promote study abroad and encourage high standards across the sector. In her role as President, Maura seeks to develops positive relations with partner countries concerning international education and provides strategic advice about the Brazilian market. Maura is also President of the Federation of Education and Language Consultant Associations (FELCA). She is based in São Paulo.
