Organizational Development and Intercultural-learning, AFS New Zealand
Carla Rey Vasquez has a degree in Cultural Anthropology from Victoria University of Wellington.
In her present role, Carla works with 52 AFS partner countries around the world and with local New Zealand schools, managing the International Student Programme: ‘Study Your Way’. Her involvement ranges from overseeing student enrolments, to delivering student orientations and overviewing student well-fare and pastoral care. Carla also communicates with, and manages, AFS New Zealand volunteers around New Zealand, with a focus on teaching them intercultural competence.
Carla began her career in cross-cultural communication lecturing and tutoring Foundation Anthropology at Victoria University of Wellington and the Open Polytechnic. She then worked in the fields of cultural consumer behaviour in Latin America, and gender research in New Zealand before moving into her Organizational Development and Intercultural-learning responsible role at AFS New Zealand in 2013.
