While export education has boomed in recent years, frameworks for international student best practice have not kept pace. In this presentation, Chris Beard and Carla Rey Vasquez introduce the CI model as a practical framework for developing best practice for intercultural competence among international students.
The CI model is highly applicable to education providers in enrolling, teaching and supporting international students, and will take some of the guesswork out of identifying best practice for international students.
The CI model is an adaptation of the 3C model presented at International Education Association conferences, and references highly-cited studies. It is characterised by the 3Cs: (i) Cross-disciplinary Intelligence; (ii) Comprehensible Input; and (iii) Collaborative Intervention.
In this session, Chris and Carla will outline practical tips and examples of how the CI model can be applied in a range of contexts to benefit both education providers and their international students.
